The Abbey of Piona is located just south of the field, separated by a short stretch of lake that constitutes the input of the "Pond of Piona", a small cove on Lake Como; many fields school began in the Abbey, from which the participants reached by swimming the bank of Montecchio South of the Field School, the "Beach of the port".
